Guest Room Makeover Reveal | $100 Room Makeover Challenge

27 Sep

My guest room makeover for the $100 room challenge is done and I love the way this little space has turned out! I was starting with a pretty blank canvas – a white room with some bookcases, a queen sized bed and some cute wall sconces. With some small updates the room now feels more inviting and has WAY more personality!

The modern vintage gallery wall is a fun way to display old family photographs and art that had been hiding in a closet. Because these pieces are so traditional it was hard to figure out how to display them, but by using the entire wall I think this gives the whole thing a more modern feel.

The Gibson Girl print is one of my favourites – her caption is “Not Worrying About Her Rights” <insert eye roll here>

By far my favourite part of the room is the new:

I could not be happier with how it turned out and it was super easy. I’ve posted a full tutorial if you want to create your own DIY pallet wood headboard here.

In addition to the gallery wall and headboard, I also painted one wall in the room a deep grey/brown that was leftover from our living room. The colour is from CIL and is called Grey Mountain. The rest of the walls are the original white paint done by the builder. Eventually I’ll probably paint them as well, but for now they’re still looking pretty good.

The overhead light was another new addition. I love the look of wood bead light fixtures but hate the price tag. This was a thrift store find that got a little makeover with some wood beads and a small leather tassel.

I bought the supplies and assembled the light fixture for my $100 laundry room makeover originally, but tit ended up being too big for the space. Lucky for me, it’s perfect for this room!

So how did I do sticking to a $100 budget? Pretty well, actually!

Gallery Wall Additions: $26.52
Pallet Headboard Supplies: $32.50
Light Fixture + Supplies: $38.79

Total: $97.81

Now I can’t wait for our next guests to arrive – although, they’ll probably have to fight Joni for the bed πŸ˜‰
