Living Room Makeover Reveal

Well it’s been six weeks and another One Room Challenge is in the bag. As I’ve working my way through this makeover I kept feeling like I wasn’t making any big changes but now looking back this room has come a long way.

I am so grateful to my sponsors for this room makeover Kichler, Legrand, and Ultimate Ears. I only work with brands I know and trust. All opinions are my own.

I am so excited to share how this room has been transformed – ready for some before and afters? I know I am!

Wowza!

Even though a lot of the items we now have in this space were “shopped” from other parts of our home (or were orphans from past renovations) this room feels totally new.

The biggest change is definitely our new media unit. We kept our existing media stand and added on more units from the same line to create one large unit.

The height makes the room look larger and all our junk is hidden away nicely behind closed doors!

Plus I finally have somewhere to put a record player and my small vinyl collection. I also had the opportunity to work with Ultimate Ears to custom design my own MyBoom3 Speaker to for listening to music in the room. It hasn’t arrived yet so I’m using a Boom3 speaker in the meantime.

And, as you can see, the open shelves of the unit are beautifully lit by dimmable LED tape lighting from Kichler. This adds a really nice ambient light to the room. The installation was really straightforward, you can read more about it here.

My two (almost matching) vintage chairs are now sporting cushion covers in the same fabric so they look even more like a matching set. I really enjoyed sewing these box cushion covers and *might* be on the hunt for more cushions to cover!

Some of the pieces in the room remain the same, like our large sectional sofa and coffee table. I had hoped to create a new coffee table, but time got away from me.

One of my favourite pieces, the DIY pallet wood headboard from our old guest room, has found a new home above our sofa, framed by two wall sconces from Kichler.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we had a lack of hardwiring in this room. Our new plug-in sconces add some much needed light over the sofa and plugged into a new wifi switch from Legrand.

We also upgraded our switch (which controls the media unit lights) with a wifi switch, so I can simply say “Hey Google, Turn on the Lights” and abracadabra – light!

This past week has been especially challenging as we said goodbye to my nana Ted who passed peacefully at the amazing age of 99.

Thank you so much for visiting and following along with my living room One Room Challenge makeover. I’m so happy with how this room turned out and can’t wait to host some friends for a games night in our new space.

And yes, if you were wondering, Chai slept on this chair during my entire photoshoot. Even when I moved the chairs to open all the media unit doors.
