Modern Home Office Makeover Reveal

Friends, we have officially reached the end of the One Room Challenge and you know what that means…it’s reveal day! I am so excited to share my new modern home office with you, but first – let’s take a quick walk down memory lane.

I’m very fortunate to have worked with some amazing sponsors as part of this makeover. Products featured in this post from Kichler Lighting, Legrand, Aria Vent and DecoArt were provided to me at no cost. All opinions are my own.

Chris and I used to share this office and since I started working from home full-time (and have so much stuff) things were starting to get a little…cramped. After a lot of discussion, Chris decided to move his office across the hall and give me this space all to myself. While I already miss sharing the office with him, I couldn’t be happier with my new space – plus I’m adding a sofa to his office so I can still go bug him!

I know, I know…get to the reveal!

I am so, so happy with how this room has turned out! The funny thing is that almost all the furniture is the same, it just got some new life, like my solid wood desk that got a modern black and chestnut makeover.

My “craft station” aka an IKEA kitchen cart is now the home of my DIY ironing board and cutting mat with supplies and my yarn stash above. My mum has already claimed this cart for her basement kitchenette so more changes will be coming to this corner in the future.

Even though Chris has moved his office across the hall, I wanted to make sure there’s still a comfortable place for him to come and hang out with me. This sitting area is now home to a vintage chair I picked up a few years ago and a footstool that used to belong to my nana that just got it’s own makeover.

Of course, I can’t mention this little sitting area without pointing out the new register cover from Aria Vent. Oh, you didn’t notice it? Because it blends right into the floor? Yup, that’s the point. You can see all the details of how I installed it here.

And what mid-century inspired office would be complete without a little bar area – it’s happy hour somewhere right? I’m also making my first attempt at keeping houseplants alive – wish me luck!

Also, can we talk about this light fixture for a minute?  You guys know how much I love Kichler Lighting, well this fixture might be my new favourite in our whole house.

It’s so pretty and with six 40w lights it gives off the perfect amount of light for concentrating at my desk.

Another area that got a major upgrade is the electrical outlets and the light switch from Legrand. Gone are the boring builder standard and in their place, new modern nickel ones have been installed. I especially love the one near my desk that has integrated USB ports for charging and when I can’t sleep and make my way to my office in the dark the new light switch with night light is so helpful!

And what better way to celebrate a new office than to go on vacation! That’s right,  mum and I are officially boarding our cruise ship tomorrow so I won’t actually get to work at my new desk for a couple of weeks – but that’s okay – it’ll be waiting for me when I get home 😉

  1. You did it!!! And it’s fantastic! It looks SO MUCH BIGGER now that there’s only one set of office furniture!! Those yellow walls were really killing the vibe – but now it’s so calm & modern. And I’m glad you included the seating area. Your Nana’s footstool turned out so nice. Great choice on the fabric. I may or may not just show up one day with my laptop in hand to hang out & work alongside you. LOL!

I love the new office, Casey!!! You know that I’ve seen your former office, and this is a fantastic transformation! I especially love what you did with your Nana’s chair, and the kitchen cart. And that you made room for Chris in your office and for yourself in his!
And finally, cacti are a good choice. I’ve managed to ignore two on my kitchen window sill that have lasted for months! Cruise happily! Job well done..
